Day in Kate’s Garden
Well, I promised you part 2 of the day at Kate’s and here it is.
It is taking me a bit longer than expected to put this page together, as I’ve had such fun going through the photographs. I just couldn’t help stopping to print out photographs that I thought would be wonderful inspiration for future paintings.
Anyway, what I’d really like you to take notice of is the garden sheds.
If any of you are familiar with Charleston in the UK, you might recognise the work on the sheds as being in that vein.
For those of you who aren’t (and I wasn’t, until Kate enlightened me), here is the blurb.
Charleston was a house in Sussex, England, lived in and visited by a group of artists, writers and intellectuals known as the Bloomsbury Group. (The house was visited by such notorieties as Virginia Woolfe). The house itself became the backdrop and canvas for much of their artwork. Inspired by Italian frescoes and post-impressionists, walls, doors, furniture etc have been the beneficiaries of their creativity.
You can visit the website here for more information, but only look if you have plenty of garden sheds and cupboards to paint!
Here are some snapshots of Kate’s garden, in all its wild beauty. Click on the small images to enlarge.
